Attribute 6: Living a life of generosity
As a believer, one who finds himself engaged in the marketplace, the obvious place to go with generous thoughts is the checkbook and credit card statements because they mirror what’s important to us. God’s word certainly tells us to be generous with money but it also seems that he asks for more than that. He wants us to be generous with all that we are and all that we have (Luke 12:21, Mark 12:30).
God doesn’t want our money as much has he wants us to be generous with our money. In the same way, He wants us to be generous with our time and talent as well as our treasure. In short, he wants all of us and all we have to love Him and love our neighbor. The truth is that God has entrusted us with all that we have. We are not the owner, simply the manager or steward.
Apostle Paul says, in 2 Corinthians 9, that God loves a cheerful giver. He goes on to say that God’s grace will allow us to abound in every good work because of His all-sufficient grace. If this is the case, then allowing God to work in our heart to show how to share and give away the resources He has entrusted to us is just the beginning of the process. It's where Living a Life of Generosity becomes reality rather than theory.
