Attribute 9: Genuinely caring for people

The Apostle Paul reminds us in his 2nd letter to the church in Corinth that God “comforts us in all of our troubles.” He brings healing into our lives and through Christ and others as they provide comfort, encouragement and support to us. We comfort others with the same comfort we’ve received from God. We genuinely care for others as we allow God to work through us to bring his comfort, encouragement and support into their life (2 Cor. 1:3-7).

Attribute 8: Maintaining a standard of excellence with integrity

Imagine you’ve hired a contractor to build an addition on your home. He has a reputation for superior work, innovation, and impeccable honesty. Early Monday morning you open the door and are shocked to see Jesus and crew standing there, tool bags in hand. He delights in the stunned look on your face. Without delay they passionately dive into their work as if crafting for a king; materials yield to their well-honed skills. Jesus patiently coaches his apprentices as they eagerly learn from their master craftsman.

Studies by Gallup, Barna, and others report an indiscernible difference between how the churched and unchurched behave at work1.
